Information on bargain hunting & sampling

 Hi Everyone.  Today is Mischievous Monday! With the glasses I was trying on [Left] I definitely would've had some fun today.  So instead this is part of what I did during my lunch hour. I tried on other sunglasses as well and then sprayed some of my favorite perfume ~_~ Mademoiselle by
Chanel.  Okay today was a challenge because my brain was everywhere else. I wanted to be anywhere but at work ~ this means that change is coming.  My old me was not into makeup, my old me was nowhere near the girly girl you see in the pics within my posts.  I mean, seriously I love the attention.

Okay that's not what this is about, this is about Bargains and Hunting for them, as well as Samples.  Part of bargain hunting is knowing the original price at your normal shopping spots, even those you've never truly shopped at.
 
For myself, I've never stepped into a Kohl's.  I've shopped at Walmart's whenever I plan it, and Target's is whenever opportunity presents itself.  Meaning, if like Walmart ~ it has to be planned.  My normal places to shop is at Rite Aide, Walgreen's, Duane Reade, Lot Less, Local Beauty Supply Stores like at 35 St. 8th Ave, Jack's World on 32 St. between 6th & 7th Ave.  See ladies & gentlemen, bargains can be found as long as you remember that Knowledge is Power.  Which brings me to the next thing....  Ever wanted to purchase a foundation, concealer, facial cleansers/serums/moisturizers, even hair products likewise???  Well that's why there is samples.  Although your local drugstores as listed above don't offer samples ~~ they have policies however and it's up to consumer [you & I] to know these things.  SO, drug stores offer a return policy if you're not satisfied with the color or if you tried the product and it turned out to be the wrong shade.  Ask first before you make your purchases as a caution. 
Now, there are samples.  Places like Sephora, MAC, Carols Daughter ~ offer samples for you to try out.  In the event you like the product then you can return to make the purchase or not.  But I'm here to let you know that Samples can be your best friend.  See, for me who is new to the realm of beauty & makeup, samples are extremely important.  It helps with unnecessary purchases and helps you learn to utilize the product.  If you're unsure how to use concealers, foundations  primers ~ watch YouTube tutorials by BEATFACEHONEY NitraaB, destinygodley and others.  There are many ladies and male makeup artists who share their secrets & how to's.
Today during my lunch hour, besides visiting Macy's, I paid a visit to Sephora.  Love this place.  It's like playing in your mom's makeup and not getting a whipping.  Below is  6 samplers I received. 
1-Murad renewing cleanser cream
2-Purity cleanser and toner
3-Moisture Bound refreshing hydra-gel
4-Urban Decay Eden matte eyeshadow primer
5-Urban Decay Pore Perfecting Primer [re-up]
6-Smashbox BB cream in Light [re-up]

Trust and believe that I will be making my purchases next month.  The samples offered give you at least about 4 uses.  More than enough to know if you're allergic, sensitive and/or not satisfied with the products results.  I hope that the information provided was helpful and feel free to leave comments and questions. 

A new day

Being Sunday here in the Bronx has been a mellow day.  I went out to visit a friend Ms. Tiffini and I had a great visit.  It's fun to just sit & chat up a storm.  We took a walk together and just chilled. In the process of my visit, my other friend that I haven't heard from gave me a ring..  AWESOME!  I'm glad that today turned out to be a great day and I realized that on Sundays, I normally stay home. I enjoyed going out today and I am going to do my best to go out on Sundays.  No need to stay home.  I will keep everyone posted as to my adventures and where I went.

Package Arrival & still knitting & loving life

2013 and I'm on a roll

So, Friday was a Purple Day.  I came to work and as you see my pics... There is 1 before and 2 afters.  I must say that I love myself and I had no clue of the type of attention I have been receiving.  I mean ladies, ladies, ladies... I'm not sure if I ever stated my feelings before but I shall reiterate:  I prefer that a man loves me in my natural state and not depend on when I doll myself up.  This look although basic is a challenge because I am new to this. New meaning in the steps and time spent. Okay, so Friday here in NYC started out fine until the afternoon/evening when it was raining.  First, I just wanted to get to work on time and chose to do my face for the retirement party at work while letting someone observe how it is I am doing all this to achieve the end results.
Again I am no Guru in the realm of makeup, Nor do I have years of experience.  I just have been watching tutorials via YouTube which has help me inspire to do something different with myself and who doesn't like to play with makeup? I take after my mom who raised my up until 12 yrs old.  DIY!  She was a jack of all trades.  Teaching me not to depend on anyone even men.  RIP mom, But there are somethings that need to be left to the male species.  Okay so before I get to my package & goodies received, I want to share with you the progress with my Cloche Hat. 

I left the picture this size so that you may see the details I am achieving.  This pattern is easy after working the 8 rows of following said instructions and you need not carry the pattern when traveling via PT ~ Public Transportation.  However, if you're a quick knitter then by all means carry on.  So of course, as I mentioned the yarn being used is Sublime ~_~  cashmere merino silk aran blend.  La, La, la, la, la.  Humming away as I knit this beauty.  I must say this pattern is one color, however I just to be creative and follow the pattern but with 2 colors.  What is your take on this?
So far, I am in heaven.  Knitting, like crocheting and other crafts, is Awesome especially when it calms you, brings you inner peace wherever you are and when you can't wait to knit your favorite piece or create a one of a kind original....  What more do you want besides hitting the lotto single handed?  Well, let me come off my crafters high.

Now on to my package and goodies.  On my new road to a better looking me, I decided to make an online purchase to bhcosmetics.  Oh yes, I did. 

I decided on a Contour & Blush Palette.  I love that it has everything I need and I've seen this on various tutorials too.

To the right [small pic] I also purchased some Makeup Remover Towelettes.  So far, I love it and they remove good but you have to use 1-3 depending on your make up.. I used 3 just to be sure.  



Now here to the left is my big goody.
My Camouflage Concealer!  Cream based to help me with defining my eyebrows and when I'm going extreme with my makeup.  Either way, I'm loving my purchase.  Affordable also!  Anyway, I just felt like sharing with you what I've been up too.



Change isn't always easy, but I've wasted too much time procrastinating ~_~ 2013 is about me ~_~ Life is also too short to worry about what others will think of you and the decisions you make.  What I do is for me, and I've read that you must surround yourself with other people who will love and encourage you and who are a positive energy in your life.  Negativity has no space here.  Much love to you all. 

Encouragement & Happiness & Knitting!!!!

Today was the Christmas Party that had been postponed because of Hurricane Sandy and due to the lack of fundraising,,, those who cared to participate was required to contribute 15 bucks.  I did and it was worth it.  Sorry I don't have a picture of my food or the punch or the rum cake [2 servings that is] covered with whip cream and strawberries.  Delicious.  But I do have a pic of the chocolate cheesecake and some fruit.

Here, would you like to taste a piece?  I forgot how delicious cheese cake is.  However, I prefer Chocolate Mousse cake.  Please pass me a sliver ~_~ how I enjoy the chocolate smoothness of the mousse melting in my mouth. Repeat ~~~ Aaaaah.
Okay, so of course I kept it clean on day 3.  Eyebrows tweezed a little more and head covered.  Listen here, I suffer from dandruff and I refused to flake on my way to work, during work and then back home.  Let's see, I find that my thoughts are flooded with fashion.  My creative thoughts are running around with no outlet.  My belief is that, I am going to have to create my visions by hand.  Thank goodness they're simple additions that takes a plain blouse and makes it stand out in a crowd.  Hmm...

How about that I am currently working on a Cloche Hat and fingerless mitten set from the current issue of Creative Knitting.  Oh yeah, at first I felt that I stepped over my head and that even though the pattern claimed to be EASY, it was far from it.  [laughing]  RIF ~ Reading Is Fundamental.  Oh yes it is.  Working the project as instructed [WS] on the right side I see it take form.  Excitement can't describe the feeling that I get.  I did it by myself.  I am working this pattern and on the right is a picture of the Cloche in progress: Yarn is from Sublime and needles ~~> Addi Turbos of course.  ~_~

Okay so once I get some mannequin heads to display my hats and once they are completed then I shall present them to you all.

So, on Monday I came in looking cool, calm and collected.  I think this picture on the right speaks for itself.  I don't even know or remember what the heck was on my mind ~_~ but honestly, I like my look.  Nothing to extravagant or over the wall but good enough for the office and after work. What do you think? 



As a last note, I do have to apologize to all who have read my last post.  To think I was writing cryptic.  I was speaking my thoughts and not realizing how it sounded.  But oh well.

Assumption

Hi Universe.  Assumption is a big killer, [so is immaturity]  Well this one word that has been known to destroy friendships & relationships.  So I almost fell, well I was falling until I grabbed onto the swinging cable.  Then I slid my way down to solid ground and was able to walk away with my head held high.  I sat and talked and forgot how people are.  Made me appreciate them more.

A day in my life

Okay so it wasn't that I wasn't happy today...  As you see, I put together a simple fresh look and although I was happy with the outcome ~~~> I wasn't happy at work.  I mean, I am so thankful to be employed and for so long ~_~ HOWEVER ~_~ I know and feel that it is time for change and to experience life with a different agenda other than looking towards retirement. 

So during my extended lunch hour, after returning from the jungle on the main strip, I had a vision and that was to take a nap and awaken refreshed.  But that is not what happened.....

 Hmm, Why can't I close my eyes and just take a freaking NAP~~~?

Okay, maybe if  I count how many smacks I could get away with I just might fall into a deep sleep :|

Okay, still awake and I just want to leave right now and roam the streets like some lost soul in search of the light... Aaaah

Fine, fine.  I gave in, sat up and decided on doing my work.  Yeah okay... It took forever to truly get into what needed to be done. Plus, it was cold in the office and I just didn't feel good.  

So I end this with a smooch. Muah!  This was my day in a nutshell. Sorry to bore you.

Embracing 2013

Out with the old and in with the new...  2012 began and ended with a bang and now I am ready to live 2013.

I love my daughter despite her antics [and what it does to me]

I love the blessings bestowed upon me.
I love the way soft, luscious yarn and the way it feels.
I love standing out in the crowd & the attention that my well defined eyebrows brings!  Still a newbie but I'm a WIP. ~ Work In Progress.  Conceited ~ who me??? Nope, just enjoying the 2nd glances.
